Biotechnology company Amgen Inc. said Thursday it named Jonathan M. Peacock chief financial officer, effective Sept. 1.
He succeeds Michael A. Kelly, who has served as acting chief financial officer since May. In April the company named then CFO Robert A. Bradway to the newly created position of chief operating officer.
Peacock, 52, joins Amgen from Swiss drugmaker Novartis Pharmaceutical AG, where he served as chief financial officer and administration officer since 2005. Prior to the Novartis position, he was a partner at consulting firm McKinsey & Co. He was also a partner at Price Waterhouse in New York and London.
Shares of Thousand Oaks, Calif.-based Amgen rose 43 cents to $53.05 in morning trading.
